Gibraltar

Mal wieder ein Bisschen Sightseeing :O). Am Hafen von La Linea gibt es den perfekten Ausgangsort für die Besichtigung von Gibraltar. Es empfiehlt sich, sich vorab etwas schlau zu machen, was man alles anschauen möchte und wie man dahin kommt. Die Grenze überquert man mit dutzenden anderen Touris zu Fuss. Komisch, die ganzen Geldwechselstuben zu sehen. In Gibraltar angekommen, geht man direkt durch die Touristeninformation. Stadtplan geschnappt und los. Am Busbahnhof ein Tagesticket gekauft – 9€ pro Person… Aber alles zu Fuss ist dann doch etwas zu weit. Wir fahren zum Stadtzentrum, wo wir den Bus wechseln müssen. Wir nehmen die Nummer 3, wussten wir aber auch nur durch einen netten Herrn, der uns auch gesagt hat, wo wir aussteigen müssen, um mit der Seilbahn auf den Gipfel von Gibraltar zu fahren. An der Seilbahnstation angekommen, durften wir 23€ pro Person für die Fahrt bezahlen. Oben angekommen, erwarteten uns bereits die Makakenäffchen. Die Aussicht ist einfach nur atemberaubend – Marokko scheint nur ein Katzensprung entfernt zu sein.
Die Mittelaltertreppe, welche zu Fuss zum Gipfel führt war auch sehr eindrücklich. Die restlichen Sehenswürdigkeiten haben wir uns erspart – war uns der Preis von 12€ pro Person nicht wert.

Again a bit of Sightseeing :O). At the port of La Linea you find the perfect spot to start the visit of Gibraltar. It is recommende to check upfront what you want to see and how to get there. We cross the boarder with dozens of other tourists by foot. Strange to see all the Money Exchange Bureaus. Arrived in Gibraltar, you pass by the Tourist Information. Grap a city map and off we go. At the bus Station we get a 1 day ticekt for 9€ each… But doing everything by foot is just too far. We drive to the city center where we have to change buses. We take line 3, which we only knew because a nice man helped us and also told us where to get off to get to the cable car to the top of rock Gibraltar. Arrived at the cable car Station, we Paid 23€ each to get up and down. On the top, we were already greeted by the makakan apes. The view was simply stunning – Marokko seemed only a stone’s throw away. The medieval stair, which takes you to the top by foot was also very impressive. The rest of the sights on top we didn’t do – didn’t want to spend another 12€ per Person.

Wieder unten angekommen, nehmen wir die Linie 10 zum Europe Point. Sehr schöner Leuchtturm am südlichsten Punkt Gibraltars.

Back down, we take the line 10 to the Europe Point. Very beautiful lighthouse at the most south point of Gibraltar.

Zurück mit dem Bus durch die engen Strassen von Gibraltar – mit dem Wohnmobil würde ich hier auf keinen Fall fahren. Der Verkehr ist auch nicht ohne. Witzig ist auch, dass die Einwohner von Gibraltar im selben Satz Spanisch und Englisch gemischt sprechen – Spanglish :O).
Am Casemates Square ausgestiegen und Gibraltar Crystal, die Glasbläserei besucht. Man kann live zusehen, wie Glasfiguren hergestellt werden – sehr beeindruckend. Danach noch in der Fussgängerzone geschlendert. Zurück im Bus zur Grenze, mit gefüllten 1000 Personen an Bord. An der Grenze dann das grosse Anstehen – Stosszeit um 17.30 Uhr. Müde und erschöpft zurück am Hafen.

Taking the bus back through the narrow Streets of Gibraltar – I would never drive my RV through here. The traffic is also huge. Fun fact: People Living in Gibraltar talk spanish and english in one sentence – Spanglish :O). We got off at Casemates Square and went to Gibraltar Crystal, glassblowing factory. You can watch how they create glass figures – very impressive. After theat we strolled around the pedestrial area. Finally taking the bus to the border with like 1000 other People. At the border, we have to stay in line with lots of others – high Peak at 17.30 pm. Tired and exhausted we arrived at the harbour.
