Portugal here we come

Unsere Reise führt uns weiter über die Grenze nach Elvas. Aber vorher nochmal tanken, da der Liter in Portugal einiges teurer ist. Die Grenze, die eigentlich keine ist, wird einem nur durch das Landesschild „Portugal“ bewusst.

Our journey takes us further over the boarder to Elvas. But before that, we fill up on gas as the Liter in much more expensive in Portugal. The boarder was only recognized by the sign saying „Portugal“.

Am Ortsrand passieren wir ein riesiges Viadukt 😮 – wow was für ein Bauwerk! Beim Einkaufen haben wir dann den Unterschied zwischen Spanien und Portugal festgestellt: Das Leben in Portugal ist um einiges teurer. Hätten wir nicht erwartet aber macht das Einkaufen noch bewusster ;o).

Just outside the town we pass by a huge viaduct 😮 – wow what a building! During Shopping we realized a significant difference between Spain and Portugal: Life in Portugal is much more expensive. Wouldn’t have thought so but makes shopping even more sensible ;o).

Am folgenden Tag habe ich mich dann mit dem Fahrrad aufgemacht, die Stadt Elvas zu erkunden. Die Stadt ist umgeben von einer Mauer, durch welche der Verkehr fliesst. Die Aussicht ist traumhaft – von der Weite des Landes mit Weinbergen über die Festungen rund um die Stadt. Bei gefühlten 50°C führt mich der Weg über Pflastersteine in Richtung UNESCO Welterbe, dem Castillo. Durch wunderschönen kleinen Gässchen vorbei an mit viel Liebe dekorierte Häusern kämpfe ich mich hoch zum Castillo. Der Weg hat sich definitiv gelohnt: Dieser Ausblick – unbezahlbar!
Danach gings runter Richtung Stadtkern und dann weiter zum Viadukt. Ein sehr gelungener Ausflug – Elvas definitiv eine Reise wert!

The following day I went off with my bike to explore the city of Elvas. The city is surrounded by a wall, where traffic is lead through. The view is stunning – from the width of the land with ist wineries to the fortresses near by. At what felt like 50°C my path goes on over plaster stone towards the UNESCO world heritage , the Castillo. Through beautiful small alleys passing houses decorated with lots of love I struggle up to the Castillo. But the struggle was worth it: The view is priceless!
Afterwards going down to the city center and on ho the viaduct. A very satisfying trip – Elvas definetley worth a visit!
