Wie sehr ich doch Leuchttürme liebe – also nichts wie auf dahin. Über Vicedo fahren wir zum Estaca de Bares vorbei an kilometerlangen Sandstränden. Die Strasse zum Leuchtturm schlängelt sich und ist ziemlich schmal. Der Parkplatz beim Leuchtturm ist uns zu stressig also fahren wir weiter nach unten zur Küste. Hinter einem alten amerikanischen Stützpunkt finden wir einen Platz mit super Aussicht auf den Leuchtturm. Zu Fuss mache ich mich auf die Sigüelos zu erkunden. Das sind die Felsen, welche hinter dem Leuchtturm aus dem Meer ragen. Eine traumhafte Aussicht auf die Küste Galiziens. Beim Blick Richtung Baerbel sehe ich ein cooles Graffiti mit einem riesigen Regenbogen auf der Rückseite eines der Gebäude des Stützpunktes. Auch die Gebäude des Stützpunktes sind sehr speziell. Zurück bei Baerbel kommen abends noch 2 Radler an. Wir kommen ins Gespräch und tauschen unsere Lebensgeschichten aus. Einer ist aus Belgien und radelt über Santiago de Compostela Richtung Portugal. Lukas startete in Mainz und fährt nach Santiago de Compostela um für sein Hilfsprojekt in Nicaragua Spenden zu sammeln. Sehr spannende Lebensgeschichten! Da es doch sehr frisch war draussen, haben wir es uns in Baerbel gemütlich gemacht und den beiden einen heissen Tee angeboten. Am nächsten Morgen wurden dann gemeinsam Kaffee getrunken bevor wir uns auf unsere Weiterreise gemacht haben.

How I love lighthouses – well guess where we are heading to? Via Vicedo we head to Estaca de Bares passing kilometers of white sand beaches. The street to the lighthouse is winded and very narrow. The parking lot at the lighthouse is to busy for us so we drive towards a space behind an old american military base with a stunning view. Walking up to view the Sigüelos. This is the name of the rocks behind the lighthouse reaching out of the ocean. A stunning view on the coast of Galicia. Towards the direction of Baerbel there is a very cool grafitti with a huge rainbow painted on the back of one of the military buildings. Exploring the old buildings you can see the old bathrooms and sleeping places – even a fire place. Back at Baerbel, we got neighbours – 2 bikers. We start talking with each other about our lives. One of the guys is from Belgium and is cycling via Santiago de Compostela to Portugal. The other one, named Lukas, started in Mainz Germany and cycles to Santiago de Compostela to make awareness for his project in Nicaragua. Very interesting stories! As it was rather chilly outside, we sat together inside Baerbel and offered them some hot tea while chatting on about life. The next morning we drank coffee together and said our goodbyes before heading our ways.

Wir fahren weiter Richtung Inland und landen in As Pontes. Dort parken wir direkt an einem See, da der Stellplatz leider nicht sehr schön war. Aber der Platz am See macht diese Enttäuschung wieder wett. :o) Ich nutze das bescheidene Wetter dazu, die nächsten Tage zu planen und stosse dabei auf Lugo, etwas weiter im Süden gelegen – ja das müssen wir uns anschauen ;o)

We drive on towards the inland and end up in As Pontes. We park at the lake as the original place we headed to wasn’t very apealing. But the spot at the like makes up fort hat :o) The weather helps to plan the next days. While doing so, I find Lugo a little bit further south – yes, I have to see it ;o)

Ja, es ist bereits wieder August! Wie die Zeit vergeht. Wir machen uns wie angekündigt auf nach Lugo, einer Stadt umgeben von einer begehbaren Stadtmauer. Auf dem Stellplatz angekommen stehen noch nicht so viele Wohnmobile da. Auf zur Stadtbesichtigung. Nach ca. 10 Minuten marschieren stehe ich vor ihr – die Stadtmauer. Durch einen Torbogen führt der Weg direkt zu der Kathedrale von Lugo – die 6€ Eintrittspreis spare ich mir und mache mich auf, das innere der Stadtmauern zu erkunden. Durch die Gassen schlendere ich vorbei an der Gemeinde und dem Hauptplatz. Die Post bzw. die Briefeinwerfschlitze fand ich auch richtig cool – mal was anderes :o). Diverse Kirchen und alte Gebäuden befinden liegen auf dem Weg. Zum Abschluss lasse ich es mir nicht nehmen, auf dieser historischen Stadtmauer die ganze Stadt zum „umgehen“ – puh, war doch länger als erwartet aber auf jeden Fall jeden Schritt wert! Zufrieden und erschöpft lasse ich die Eindrücke in unserem Zuhause Revue passieren.

Yes, it is August already! How fast time runs by. As planned we head on to Lugo, a city surrounded by a walk-on wall. The overnight spot wasn’t full yet. Off to visit the city. About 10 minutes walk until I see it in front of me – the city wall. Through the archway leads a way directly to the cathedrale of Lugo – I save the 6€ entrance fee and head on to explore the inside of the city wall. Through the alleys I pass the main place of the village. The post, more the mailboxes are really unique – something else for a change :o). Various churches and old buildings are on the way. Before heading back to Baerbel I have to walk on this historic city wall – well, it was much longer than expected but worth every step! Happy and exhausted I digest the impressions in our home on wheels.
